Valkenburg Christmas Caves by harvey

Valkenburg Christmas Caves

Anne and I took the public bus to nearby Valkenburg, NL today to see their famous christmas markets which are in the very old caves which are located there.

Well the christmas market was pretty cheesy and not really worth the trip, but we still had fun and made the best of the trip. This is probably the coolest part of the caves, an underground chapel built in 1795. When Napolean took over the area he forbid christianity and the local residents built this secrect chapel underground where they could worship. I waited a while trying to get no people in the frame but it was not possible, but anyway this shot ended up with a cool stop motion effect for that guy walking when the other guys camera flashed a few times.
It seems to be an interesting place to visit.

Oh this was part of our tour too! Shame you were disappointed with the stalls, maybe you get too much of a good thing!!! The history of the caves, as you say, is extremely interesting. Thanks for the memories. :-)
