Gulls at The Inlet

the light was lovely down at the inlet again - love these late summer days
Hi I've started following your project as your style caught my eye. This shot and your photo of litter on a fence. Have tried to replicate with not much luck. Is it a fixed camera and slow shutter speed or a faster shutter but moved camera? Will appreciate any tip thanks

@handymaurice Hi Haydn, nice to have a fan. I love this impressionist stye of photography but find I don't get as many "likes" as when I shoot "straight" haha. It is not easy to do and takes a bit of practise, but is fun trying. It is slow shutter speed - usually 1/20th of a second and moving the camera - can be zooming with the lens, or from one side to the other or downwards or upwards even just jiggled all higgledy piggledy can create some fun results. I will generally shoot a scene straight and then for fun try some of these techniques to see what they will look like :-) you will need to try different speeds and may need to start at 1/60th - have fun and don't hesitate to ask any more questions :-)

Very many thanks for the tip - I thought it might be something similar - I have tried but not successfull yet - will keep trying and post the first successful photo! It is a style I have seen used by a client of mine (Lord March of Goodwood fame - who was once a professional - it looks simple but is difficult to do well....this project overall is pushing me which is good - but trying to limit my photos only to those taken on the actual day is difficult - like yesterday I managed only two photos on my compact - so was difficult to choose the best!
