"It all started that one day when I had nothing more to say to you so I ran the other way. Love is for morons, but who's this fucking idiot that I see staring right back at me? Will someone tell me what's right or wrong anymore? Cause everywhere I go I wonder what I'm searching for. "
I headed up to the mountains today to get some use out of the infrared filter on loan to me. Most of pictures turned out amazing (minus some lens flare), but the ones I took of the North Fork turned out beautiful. I think I'm becoming hooked on infrared :) Definitely helped having a lens (thanks Denny!) that the filter screwed onto, and doesn't produce hot spots. Someday I hope I can get a converted D70, that'd be awesome!
Allyssa, the filter is a Hoya R72 infrared. Unfortunately they're quite pricey, especially if you use it on a larger diameter lens. You also gotta be careful which lenses you use, a lot of them produce "hot spots" due to the glass elements. Another route is to get a Nikon D70 that has been converted to shoot only infrared. With a converted camera you can shoot at handheld speeds, vs. having to use a tripod and very long exposures. But infrared is awesome, and it's not very common which is neat.
Words cannot describe how impressed I truly am! :)
Congrats on talking a leap into this invisible world -- the rare spectrum (see what I did thar?) of the photography that captures a small sliver of a truly "Unseen Beauty." An almost surreal and hard to believe winter wonderland of the warm summer and growing months. I am truly glad to hear you are having fun with Infrared! Keep it up... :c)
p.s. Next time we go out to shoot, we will do a lot more IR!
Thanks for all the comments everyone!
