I was playing around with my wide angle lens I just got back (again...LOL... seems like the lens is never in my possession). Kind of hard to wrangle a D80, cat treat, and take a photo and not become the snack...

Taken with a Nikon D80, Tokina 12-24mm lens
That's a pretty wild shot!

Cool shot! Does it look like that because it is a wide angle?

@kerristephens I think she just under-feeds her cats.... too much time taking photos...

Ha! I love it! Great capture!

ahaha awesome shot! If I tried to get a pic like this I would probably get my finger bitten off! ;)

@kerristephens Do you mean how my hand/Ari's head looks big, and everything small/distorted? Then yes, that's due to the nature of the lens. Kinda like a slight fisheye effect, since it was taken at 14mm.

@icywarm LOL! They might think they're underfed, but all they do is eat and get treats!

@sylphy @alisongbradshaw @binabrockbank Thank you for your comments!

I love this shot, especially since it's in B&W. The angle give your kitty so much length that she (or he?) looks like a Bengal. I love the capture; you can see her teeth. Nice to see the bit of true feline-ness come through from a domestic cat.

haha this is awesome.

@ravenwolf423 He probably looks like a Bengal because he is one :) So is Sammie in the background. They're both about 13% wild blood, last time I checked.

@kidatheart Thank you!

@hmgphotos LOL, well that explains it! I have always wanted one, but kittens START at $1000 (US) over here. Way too much for me. And adopting one is really, really difficult because they are so rare in rescues/shelters.

@ravenwolf423 I got lucky with my two. I got Sammie totally free from Bengal Rescue. She was in NY, then at a foster in NJ, and I just happened to work with her foster dad and got her that way. Ari I got from a breeder in Wisconsin, and he's show quality, but got him for $800 + $200 airfare to fly him to NJ, which is where I lived at the time.

If you find the right breeder (not a shady backyard one, but a nice reputable one) you can often find pet quality kittens for around $400. That usually doesn't include spaying/neutering, though. So sometimes paying a bit more is worth it so you don't personally have to deal with the fixing and first shots. Still can be quite pricey!

I'd look into bengal specific rescue networks. They're usually very quick to get them out of shelters, because bengals do not do well in shelter situations, and to place them into foster homes. Usually there's a $100-200 adoption fee, which is pretty reasonable compared to "brand new" prices. I feel very blessed that I got my Sammie for free with all her papers!
