No longer middle aged, and no longer taking pictures every day....but cannot quit yet.

Middle, middle. Middle-aged, middle America. I just like taking...
Hi Kathryn, I have used a polarising filter when the moon is full and bright, it does seem to help. I was also told that the best moon to photograph is 1/4 moon rather than a full moon, however the minute someone tells me it can't be done I have to try it for myself (failure hurts though :) )
Lovely compositon, there are so many combinations of settings to capture the moon. If you want to get the details of the moon with the trees, try going out a little earlier & set your shutter at 1/50 with an aperture of 5.6 to start with to see what you get. Then adjust you iso to help with the lighting the image. I just play around with the settings to see which ones work well. Slow shutter speeds like 1/4 & slower have the moon coming out as a glow & capture the surroundings. A faster shutter speed 1/160 & over will give you detail in the moon with black surroundings. Depends what sort of image your want to create. There are lots of threads on here to help with it, just enter in moon in your search box. Some of the discussions might explain it better than me
