I got quite a surprise when I saw this puffin pop up, it must have been collecting grass where I couldn't see it and then all of a sudden there it was!
We could see a lot of puffins out at sea today so not quite as many on the cliffs but I still managed to come back with plenty of photos.
I was going to post something different for each day of 30 days wild but I think I'll relax the rules for another puffin :)
Great shot, Christine, they do seen to have such great personalities. Each one is a character.
Spend a little time, close up to watch them, ( as you have), and you can see so many human traits in them. Friends, enemies, let's make friends again, plus their sometimes clownish appearance and behaviour, but then their skills flying, landing and getting to the right burrows, in 50mph winds, when I couldn't even hold the camera still.
I could spend weeks watching them.
To prove a point you've got a vegetarian Puffin !!
Haha
I can't see mine till Monday !!
@markp you've summed them up perfectly, they're just fascinating to watch, never mind photograph. Especially when you can sit so close without bothering them. Can't wait to see your photos!
@rosiekind thank you Rosie :) we're in the Shetland Isles, this was at Hermaness nature reserve on the island of Unst. There's a few locations on the Shetland mainland where we should see more puffins this week. I found at Bempton it was quite hard to see them on the cliffs.
