My favorite song of the year is November Tale by the Waterboys. It tells the story of two old lovers meeting up after several years. They were activists in their younger days, while he goes on to be successful singer, she remains a free spirit, a campaigner . Over the course of the song they agree to be friends and enjoy being together despite their differing views. The whole thing is wrapped up in a great tune with a sing along chorus . I tried to capture something of the piece in a picture, this is as good as I got. I include a youtube link but copyright may stop it playing in some areas, if so you can google it for your territory. on black if you can. thanks.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN-EmQ4Aa6Y
Such a beautiful atmosphere in this shot. I love the half light with the tall elegant lamps lit all the way along the river. The curve of the houses on the left too add to the general feel of this picture. Must listen to the song when the news has finished on the TV.... Fave.
Beautiful moody shot, i csn almost see the lovers saying their last farewell under the lantern. You have such a gift for telling storeys with your photography
Great depiction of November, especially the green/grey of the sky on one of those very moody days. I like how the tree and sky dwarf the figures and houses.
Listening to the song now, as I view your photo. Lovely curves and tones in this shot, with the single upright lamp post. "We agree to disagree..." :) A story, well told.
@overalvandaan Fisherman's blues was recorded in Spiddal about 10 miles from Galway. At the time Mike Scott was regularly to be seen walking around with his long coat and a hat, through which his hair seemed to grow.He is a real crafts man with words and music...
I always think of Fisherman's Blues when I hear Waterboys, love that song too.
