Ardfry

This is Ardfry House , A rare example of Gothic architecture in the West of Ireland. Sadly it fell into ruin back in the early years of the 20th century. Up close it looks like as if a mass of Ivy is all that holds it together. It has a colorful history, one story explains why it lost it's roof . It seems the Lady of the house had amassed large gambling debts and had to sell the lead flashing to pay her debts, It was used as a film set for the 1973 film The Mackintosh Man starring Paul Newman.
One of many pretty ruins

Those muted colours, it looks like a landscape that's been washed in rain.

I like the desolate feel to this but such a shame that these old buildings have fallen into ruins.

@vignouse They were the homes of the Anglo Irish landlord class, quite a few of them were burned down during the war of Independence . a few were rescued as trophy homes during the boom. this one though is no longer accessible by road so it's fate is sealed...

Such an atmospheric capture.. so sad it turned into ruins. Reminds me of the bombed out church of St Luke I saw in Livepool this summer.

This is quite eery! Love the reflection and the overall monotone feel to it.
