On a wet New York day after a visit to the simply beautiful and touching 9/11 memorial, I came across Santiago Cclatrava's stunning Oculus,meant to symbolize a Dove taking flight. I was struck by the fact that an act of such terrible destruction has not stopped this great city, but made it strive to be better, bolder. To honor those that died and say you will never defeat us.
A great piece of architecture. I love the feel to this with the pops of colour, the rain and people with umbrellas. The 9/11 memorial must be very moving.
Wonderful words John. And I'm in awe of your either your photography or editing on this shot (actually both). Those bendy buildings are just brilliant, how they look to be leaning towards the Oculus. Almost to hear or see what is going on.
