Tomorrow (friday) we'll leave our camping place in the sun and start our way back home.
We don't like to drive too long as it is still a vacationday and not work, so today is a lazy one.....
This photo is from wednesday and it is an old and totally renovated washhouse. In 1888 the people of Hyeres came here to do their laundry.
Next to this they have a lovely garden filled with flowers were the wonen could sit after their hard work........at least I hope they did :)
Sure it was very hard work for the woman then but also very socialising, big chatter happening. Now we chat in our phones without seeing the opposite :(
@angelikavr@francoise@ludwigsdiana@louannwarren Thank you for your nice comments ladies! I agree with you that besides the hard work the people had more time for eachother than these days.
@casablanca Wasn't possible, they put in grates, pity though.....it was very hot ....I could have used some cooling down. Back in the days they used it for their laundry ;D
@robz haha, could have been, they tell us it was for doing the laundry......
Just kidding, they have a lot of these places in France, and I always enjoy it if I find them.
I like this - a reminder of years gone by. There are still a few - not sure if with running water - around the Maltese Islands serving as tourist attractions.
@tdaug80 So sorry, for not replying sooner, we had a few days no internet and no wifi! I'll try to do something with the night photography, thank you for the link!
