Well, if you saw my selfie from yesterday, you will know how I feel about 365. Life changing!
I made a collage of my PP pics to celebrate the years end. I wanted to make a collage of all my Mt Rainier pics but there are too many so I switched track to the PP pics.
One year ago I knew I loved to take pictures but I only used auto on my camera. I was a bit blue after having some long term side effects from cancer (read: feeling sorry for myself). I had outgrown my bridge camera, and my hubby surprised me with a DSLR. My son was visiting and we went together on several photo shoots - he encouraged me to not use the AUTO mode, but after he left, I switched back to my bad habits - that green mark on the dial was my comfort zone. Three months later I learned about 365 from some friends on Facebook. Thought I would give it a go and the rest is history. Still a novice - but a much more confident one. Some events in July (son's wedding) and October (illness) nearly had me throwing in the towel, but encouragement from my new found friends on 365, and my hubby (who nagged me daily to get my pic and has been 100% supportive and patient - and no longer panics when I shout STOP when he is driving) I kept going. I rarely use auto any longer unless I have a nano second to get a shot that I don't have time to set up for. I still struggle a bit with aperture, but practice is making perfect. I have awesome followers and am so grateful for the kind, helpful comments. Next year I want to take time to learn more about my camera and start editing - I have used only edits in picasa so far.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!
wow that is a gorgeous collage and for someone with limited time you have managed to take many varied & exceptional shots - well done and look forward to carrying on with you through the next year Jan - onwards & upwards :o)
Fantastic collage, great way to celebrate. Congratulations! Happy New Year to you! Last year I was mainly on auto but this year I'm hoping to get out of auto and onto manual setting :)
Gorgeous collage Jan, and thank you for introducing me to Mount Rainer, I love it and your beautiful photos!!!! It's been a blast and looking forward to seeing what you do this year. Woohoo!!! 100% congrats ;))
What a stunning collage with some of your best work Jan. You live in a gorgeous area. I visited Rainer a year ago and was amazed at the beauty. Congrats on finishing your year and I'm looking forward to more of your fabulous photographs.
good for you! i have never used auto but i do use program quite a bit, especially in street scenes. but sometimes you just have to go manual. there are lots of free editing programs -i use gimp-prepare to be frustrated for a while, and remember you just can't make a bad picture look good! happy new year.
Happy New Year, Jan! Thanks for all of your photos in 2013 -- I hope you know that I LOVE them! Thanks, too, for your narrative; I feel as though I know you better and certainly admire your resolve to take those gorgeous photos! Got a new camera about a month ago and still haven't taken if off of AUTO.

@jankoos Yes, I was there in August and I did get to see some of the alpine flowers. They are so delicate and colorful. I climbed up to the snow line and captured many lovely views.
