Sitting on a shrub. It was pouring rain but he didn't seem to mind. He is a territorial little guy. I only used to see him in the evenings but now it seems to be his mission to keep all the other hummers away. Pretty, isn't he?

@bristolrose - maybe the cold winter, Kathryn - I bet they will be back. I hadn't seen any in a long time but started keeping a feeder up and changing the syrup every few days. Usually we have Anna's at the feeder year round but I haven't seen any Annas this year - just rufous.
Beautiful hummingbird. Today I had my first chance to take captures to these fast birds, and realized that's not easy, and I'm giving much more credit to the ones that can, like you :)
