Old Lady

An 'Old Lady' - the moth, not my finger - so called because the pattern of its wings looks like an old lady's shawl. It looks a lot worse for wear than my hand - I suspect the cats gave it a hard time last night.
This is one of the biggest moths I have seen at 35 mm across. Not a great photo - my camera isn't designed for left handed operation!

It does look in a pitiful state, poor thing! It's amazing how much wing damage they can sustain and still manage to fly, though.
