The cells at the Ohio State Reformatory are stacked six stories high, measure 9 feet by 11 feet and were occupied by two inmates. The east block cells are entirely constructed of steel plate. If you look closely you can see the rivets in the walls.
The rust on the walls speaks to the material used for construction of these cells. this is a fantastic shot, Jay! What a dreary existence it must have been!
