Minotaure mourant (1933)

A day out at LACMA to see the Picasso/Rivera exhibit (had no idea they were contemporaries and friends). I love Picasso's sketches -- and took a picture of this one in particular of the dying Minotaur. Everyone's expression is very negative but I don't know if the woman's arm is outstretched to symbolize restraint, sympathy, or just apathetic curiosity.

I see varying degrees of anger, disgust,and just a touch of sympathy.

I feel like she is tryin to sooth him. I saw that show, Jay. I felt the same as you. It was a very well mounted show though. Drew connections between them that I never would have thought of.
