Raindrops on Chives by jbritt

Raindrops on Chives

I love my macro lens! It helps me see things that I might miss otherwise. It took many tries to get this simple shot.

I knew I wanted to capture the rain today and noticed the drops on my chives right away, but it took a lot longer than I expected to get the right shot. I experimented with DOF, different angles, different areas of the chive patch. I even tried using a tripod but it didn't work very well since I was so close to the ground. But I am pleased with the result, so it was worth the time. And I keep telling myself that this is all practice and my mistakes are part of the learning process.
Really beautiful! I love the details.

Close enough to see INSIDE the raindrops. Way cool. I tried the same sort of thing with my Elph 4500 in the front yard, but could not get so close. Everything was so shiny and beautiful, though! It reminded me how the world looked to me as a kid. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dsroyal/5579720764/
