Working at the Library by jbritt

Working at the Library

I walked through the Central Library with my camera this afternoon and captured this man working on his laptop. There's a photo contest sponsored by the library, so I'm planning to spend more time taking pictures of libraries. Last week I took some in the empty children's room during the half hour before it closed. It was fairly crowded this afternoon and I felt uncomfortable. I'm not sure why.
Great idea...did you have to tell him that you were taking his picture? I wanted to take some shots at my gym but didn't think I should without permission???? Might be in the secret identity program! :-)

Great shot! You are great at taking photos of everyday events and turn them into wonderful photographs.

I like how you framed him with all the lines of the shelves seemingly pointing to him. (M)

@Mary. I didn't talk to him. I don't think he even knew I took his photo. Libraries are public spaces so my understanding is that you don't have to get permission. I wanted a candid shot, so I couldn't have asked ahead of time. But like I said, I did feel a bit uncomfortable--I often do when photographing strangers. And if I wanted to sell the photo, I should have gotten him to sign a consent form.
