Shadows on Mexicali Blues Umbrella by jbritt

Shadows on Mexicali Blues Umbrella

I guess I'll have to dress up more often for my photo shoots. I wore a skirt and a straw hat this afternoon. A woman came out of this restaurant as I was shooting and seemed encouraging. She lamented that her flowers had died. A patron offered to move if he was in my way. And someone else was disappointed when I told him, no, he wasn't going to have his photo in the newspaper. He seemed happy when I said it might get on the internet.

Today I was looking for colors, shadows, and textures that caught my eye. I'm doing several of the contemplative photography exercises in combination. That isn't the intention in the book, but I find it hard to ignore interesting shots when I see them and it seems limiting to ONLY shoot texture or ONLY shoot color. I understand the rationale but I hope I will get something out of this even if i don't follow directions exactly.
Why is it that when we are dressed up, people pay more attention to us? It is if we become more visible. I love the shadows on the umbrella and the building! Great capture! PS Direction are written to be ignored...that's what most men say! LOL

I am enjoying your commentaries and stories that go with your photos. I am interested in the whole idea of comtemplative photography. I might need to check out your book recommendation.

This is so great! I love the colors just as much as the shadows.
