This railroad bridge connects Harper's Ferry WV to Maryland. It was built in 1894. There were prior bridges in the area that were destroyed during the Civil War or by floods. It is an active bridge and we saw several freight trains go over it while we were in the area. There's a pedestrian walkway over the bridge which ends on the other side at the Appalachian Trail and the C&O canal path. We had a delightful walk across and enjoyed beautiful views. Thankfully no trains passed through when we were on the bridge - I think that would have been very loud.
