Summer ice by jesika2

Summer ice

For those who don't know, a 2p piece is about 1 inch across. It's sitting next to an iceberg which has just fallen, one of many, out of the sky a few minutes ago. I know we needed rain but what has happened yesterady & today is a bit ridiculous. I can hear Police & ambulance sirens. Many people will have been caught by and in the sudden, torrential hail and rain. Hopefully there will be no serious injuries

Hail can be so damaging. I love what you have done to capture the image.

Wow - hope the cars were under shelter!

@milaniet I'm afraid, Milanie, cars were not my concern when these huge chunks of ice fell from the sky. I was concerned that no humans or animals would be hurt. One of my friends stopped one as she stood in her lobby and it bounced off the wall onto her head!
I understand there has been some damage around the city but perhaps not very serious.

Wow, that is a giant hailstone. We had the rain but not the hail. Strange weather these days

Wow, I've heard of large hail, but fortunately we haven't had any this large.

Thank you all. I've seen several photos of the icebergs we got yesterday and most of them were spikey, unlike the usual round hail stones. I managed to dash inside, find a coin for sizing, run out, snap a shot and then get back inside just as it all started again!
I just hope no one, human or animal, was hurt.
Indeed the weather IS strange, frightenly so.

Wow! One of those would really hurt if it hit someone.

@pej My friend knows, and the one that hit her had bounced off the wall!
Thanks, Paul
