Childhood's End

Not Arthur C Clarke's wonderful novel but some of the Brimstone caterpillars' skins shed as they pupated.
The next stage of their adventure is as imago, the beautiful Brimstone butterflies. Pupation takes about 2 weeks. I expect one to eclose (emerge) next week and the rest over 2-3 weeks with 4 young caterpillars still eating their way through my Alder Buckthorn.

Oh, that's very special and pretty. First I thought, these were parts of a flower...thanks for the explanation. Learning never stops :)
