This pipe comes up from the river far below, where our fuel is off-loaded from barges in the summer months. In the winter it has to be flown in on DC10's. At the moment, however, our problem is frozen water lines. The entire village is without water, with no fix in sight. Merry Christmas.
@cottiac A lot of cussing! And then we recruit some strong young high school students to go down to the river and chop a hole in the ice and fill up barrels to deliver to the teacher housing. (They are very willing to help out!) We use the river water for flushing the toilet and boil it for doing dishes. Our principal keeps bottled water in stock, so it's do-able, but it's not fun. Arrrrgh, indeed!
