Tokens and wishes.

Last weekend, the Japanese Society of Halifax was collecting donations at the Farmers' Market to send to the Red Cross in Japan. Over $12,000 was raised in 2 days, which was to be matched by Scotiabank. They were giving out origami paper cranes as a token of appreciation for donating. The crane I received is what I took a photo of and made into this, my version of a Senbazuru.

A Senbazuru is a group of one thousand origami paper cranes held together by strings. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. In addition to the cash donation, the JSH was also sending over Senbazurus made from pieces of paper that had donors wishes for Japan written on them.

I didn't intend to go this overboard in Photoshop, it just 'happened'.

I like it, lovely tribute to Japan and I learned something too!

@semrants @pwallis ~ Thanks, ladies. I was pleased with it, despite it becoming more graphics than photo!
