Sorry to post two, especially if you're a hater of the 'same-photo-different-edit' kind of post. Basic edits in Picnik, then applied a Curves preset called "Cross Process Blue".
I was down at the harbour at a 'low light photography' class last week. A bit of a waste of money...the class was supposed to be for all levels, but alot of instruction time was spent showing folks how to use the buttons on their cameras. Not being a snob, I just think it's silly to try and learn how to use your camera in the DARK under such COLD and WINDY conditions. That's all.
I'm currently situated in Victoria, having previously lived in Beijing, Halifax, Chilliwack, Calgary, Vancouver and growing up in Northwestern Ontario. My aim with photography is...
@shutterbugger ~ thought you might like it...lots of other cool presets in there. I'd tried them before, but they were just so much more effective with this shot.
Pretty funny...yes learning how to use your camera buttons in the dark seems a bit...strange:-) I really enjoy this photo...my dad is getting really into photography and has the same issue you were saying the other day...he wants to take photos with both the forefront and distance in focus...any tips for him?
@lisalevez ~ Smaller aperture (larger f-stop number, so F8 ish and up?) is supposed to do that kind of thing. Not that that kind of thing always works for me when I want it to. :)
Very cool - definately like the pic in blue better! What's the source of the light trails? I've seen so many Groupon camera courses recently, wondered if they would be worth buying.
@russianblue ~ Oh, they are lights on buildings and such across the harbour. The blue Delta sign in the top left is the most obvious as to its source...well maybe not at this size though!
What program do you find a cross process blue preset? Glad I came back for a read....I didn't know about the zooming during exposure time! Now on my must try list. I'm going to look for groupon camera courses now.
@onarom@shutterbugger ~ Oh ya, I have more (older) shots like this in a fb album. I think I messed around with the contrast too much on those ones though.
Definitely a fav! seriously, it would have been one even before the request. Nice work JanNa
