Its lens flare around a mark or scratch on your lens. May have been where a rain drop or something like that dried. If you were using the lens hood it would not have appeared.
Alternatively it could be a really cool extraterrestrial capture!
@netkonnexion thanks that explanation seems the most logical. I looked at pictures before and afterwards and did not see the same anomaly. In a way I hope you are I right. In many ways I hope it is the latter. Aliens, angels, lens scratches--either way when people saw the picture they had to look at 3 or 4 times before walking away
