My friend wanted me to shoot a few portraits for her and we had a good time getting her some profile pictures today... :D
I love this shot - except for one thing.
The effing flare! The goddamn piece of dust INSIDE my lens has ruined the shot for me! If the flare only had been a bit to the right or above her head, no problem. But on her face, aaaaaaargh! (And I know the dust particle is inside the lens because I've had the easily cleanable parts checked & cleaned. The particle is somewhere inside the lens structure and cannot be cleaned without dismantling some of the lens. And there's no way I'm doing that - I don't even know if a repair shop could do it... Waaah! I need a new trusty fave lens...)
However, I did get better pics for her - I just love the bounce in this one.
@quicksilver Glad to hear it, Robin. I usually even like flares, but this piece of dust drives me absolutely bonkers. It means I can't trust this lens to deliver what I want - and it's basically the only one I currently have. (Of course, there's the nifty fifty that would do nicely in many situations, but not in all... Gotta go and get a lottery ticket! :D )
love the exuberance in this... i don't think i'd really have noticed the flare if you hadn't drawn my attention to it... i wonder if you could fix in lightroom? using the adjustment brush and just a tiny tweak on exposure?
@northy Heh, I've no idea if it could be fixed as I still don't have Lightroom... :D @quicksilver Nope, didn't. New try next week. ;) @peadar Yes, I think it reflects both the moment and her personality quite well. Fun was had by the both of us during this shoot.
