Wind and then Snow by joysabin

Wind and then Snow

Incoming storm from the back side of the San Francisco Peaks.
Wow, that's a bleak landscape. Great comp and processing!

@sketch2 Thank you so very much for the fav. This plateau behind the peaks is actually very peaceful- I'll try to bring that off in the spring or summer.

Very lonely..great capture!

@nanderson Thank you, The clouds that day were ominous.

This photo has that Ansel Adams look...my favorite B&W photographer. Fav

Beautiful b&w photo

Looks to be a very desolate scene. I love your editing on this shot.

Really like this one, the starkness accentuates the feeling of cold
February 4th, 2016
@davejf Thank you, I really appreciate the fav. It was rather cold but I was not going to let that bother me when I had heated car seats.
February 4th, 2016
@nydelignorsk Oh my goodness, Ansel Adams he is my favorite! Thank you so much.
February 4th, 2016
@juleshoogstraanderson Thank you. This was shot in color but then had fun in paint and photoshop.
February 4th, 2016
@deborah63 Thank you, I need to go back in the spring (May or June here).
February 4th, 2016
@juleshoogstraanderson PS Welcome to 365!
February 4th, 2016
wintry and cold alright.
February 4th, 2016
@chard Thank you, Sun is out today so maybe backup there?
February 4th, 2016
looking cold up there!
February 4th, 2016
This is wow and Fav. We do not have that type of landscape here to do a photo like that.
February 4th, 2016
@sdutoit Thank you so very much for the fav. In Northern Arizona there is a great deal of open space that hasn't been 'changed' yet. I feel lucky to be here if just for the quiet - the wind and snow I'm learning to appreciate. (long learning curve on those)
February 4th, 2016
@blueberry1222 It was the wind that got me. I was wondering how nice the valley would be this weekend?
February 4th, 2016
nice stark landscape... works so well with the high contrast
February 7th, 2016
@northy Thank you.

I like this landscape; you have captured the feel of the wind & cold well & I like the rendering you have given it. Just a suggestion, I would crop some of the sky off so that the horizon is not on the mid line as there is a lot of sky.
February 7th, 2016
@paulmann I agree with your idea of cropping differently. The clouds were very dark and heavy that day but it does cut the shot in half- thanks! I truly appreciate the idea.

@nydelignorsk took the words right out of my mouth. The first thing I thought when I saw this was Ansel Adams. Wonderful image!

@mcsiegle Wow, to even be in the same sentence as Mr. Adams is unimaginable. Thank you so very much for the fav. This meadow on the north side of the San Francisco Peaks is a favorite place of mine- almost always empty but can be very windy. This was shot just before a storm that really dumped on Flagstaff.
