Buffalo Soldier by joysfocus

Buffalo Soldier

Buffalo Soldiers were all black men and members of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army in 1866. The name was given to them out of respect by the Native Americans whom they fought against because the soldiers were strong and fierce and determined like buffalo.
Joy, I must thank your for posting this photo. The Buffalo Soldiers served our country with great dignity and honor. They never received just recognition for their bravery. FAV!

@tigerdreamer Hi Karen. The Bluegrass festival in an annual event in Ramona and many other places in San Diego. A lot of these people in costume travel around Calif., Arizona and Nevada. It's very cool and they get busloads of grade school children who are taught the history. Field trips are much more fun than sitting in a classroom.
