Sunlight through the kitchen window on the Galileo Thermometer caught my eye but turned out to be one of the most frustrating things I have tried to photograph. Shooting by the window just showed up how badly it needed cleaning, so I had to set up a makeshift studio instead.
we have one of these, the rule in our house is- when there are 2 balls down - the fire is turned off!! At present all balls at the top!

Thanks. Where I usually keep it, it is unusual for ANY of the balls to go down in the winter!
