Nigel spent much of 2020 teaching his karate class from a gazebo in the garden but once we’d had the summerhouse roof replaced and tarted it up he moved in there. It’s been there for years - we put it up from a kit (the roof nearly actually killed me) - because the previous home owners had laid a huge concrete base & we couldn’t dig it up. It’s certainly come into its own this winter (along with its fan heater) but I think all concerned will be glad to get back to physical classes.
Weather: cold and dull
Covid: trying to cast net around SA variant, vaccination program going v well
Good things: really good zoom exercise class for me in the summer house this morning. The teacher has also been giving me free videos of her Pilates classes because I volunteer at the Community Fridge when she does the classes and luckily that means she can’t see me struggling to make myself into a rocking banana while lying face down on the mat.
Giggling.... sorry.... do kids yoga on homeschool. Kids love doing Betsy the banana and laugh at all my groaning as we go from bananas to fruit bowls and everything else.
Oh dear I’m feeling guilty now...I certainly need an online exercise class!
Good to see Nigel dressed up for his class.....the summerhouse looks an excellent temporary class venue.
@humphreyhippo we are v lucky to have the space - the neighbours laugh at the number of buildings we have... But Nigel’s office isn’t huge and small is easier to heat.
I love the lighting in this shot! The ultramarine sky and the green green grass set off by the whites...Lucky Nigel for the short commute. I take it his knee is better?
@fueast they are slightly odd things - I used to like a chair in the greenhouse for a snooze in spring! This is really useful at the moment but I think for a garden room I’d really like to be able to open the doors right out and have it more outside/in. Not that there will be ANOTHER!
If you have to teach from home this is a charming place to do it! Nigel's knee surgery must have been a big success. Remarkable recovery to be back at martial arts already. All good!
I'm amused at your description... im not sure how much my Pilates tutor can see on our Zoom classes......but actually I think I am more focussed on the actual movements when at home than I was in the hall this time last year. Who would have thought......?
And yes! The sooner I get back to teaching face to face the better.
The martial arts are not easy to train in via Zoom or whatever! Kudos to him for giving it a go. I've studied Aikido for many years and I really miss the person to person training.
@jantan they’re his lightweight sports shoes that he wears when he can’t be barefoot. Let’s just say he’s not allowed out with me wearing that type of footwear!
