I took Monty over to Lode for his walk as it's shady and the heat and humidity were way too much for an overgrown spaniel. I was just pondering the fact that I wasn't looking for a shot as I wanted to post more from yesterday when I came upon this idyllic scene. The river level is low and this is the only spot where Monty can reach for a drink. Daddy swan was having none of it and immediately came over to tell Monty to 'step away from the river'. Meanwhile mum had herded her youngsters away and was giving them a lecture on the dangers of dogs. The lighting was dappled and very difficult - any advice from you experts would be gratefully received!
I like the lighting here. Understand your query as I had a load yesterday which were just unuseable .water looked like light . or grass .. anything but water.
This is a great shot - I've just read your commentry and before i did I was thinking you'd done a great job seeing the lighting looks a little tricky! Lovely composition.
it's a nice image Judith, I say let the camera do the work with dappled lighting...put it on auto and see what happens.....Panasonic have spent millions of dollars / yens on designing cameras and most time they get exposure right. This looks great to me.
You could bracket the exposures and edit in layers, but you cannot really do that here because you've got movement in the swans
