Not very seasonal I know but our war memorial always looks very handsome against the sunrise and it's not often that I get to sit at the front of the traffic light queue to admire him. This morning Adam got a lift to school so I had him primed with the camera ready for action and - bingo - at the front, two shots and we were off again. There is construction work all around him and I was going to call this 'March of time' but my PhD supervisor was always saying 'Onwards and Upwards' as he headed out of the door of the lab - leaving us sweating over some failed experiment or other -and for some reason I am having a nostalgic moment!
I'm off to Puerto Rico on Wednesday until Monday. I will be up at 3.30am and travelling the best part of 24h to get there and then having to work for half of the three days but I'm guessing I won't be getting any sympathy! I'm trying to get Christmas cards written and other jobs done before I go so apologies if I'm a bit quiet on commenting. I've replaced my first version of this as the over-processed sky was annoying me! PS Many many thanks for all your lovely comments and faves on little Jenny Wren!!
I wondered why it didn't let me post this...
I don't think you've overprocessed the sky at all, it looks wonderful and the silhouette is beautifully sharp.
I stand by it, I like this one too, but there was nothing wrong with the sky before :)
I think you should call this Upwards and Onwards and post an Orange Juice link (my favourite song during my PhD ha ha). Great silhouette! Have a great trip. Apart from the flight sounds very exciting! Actually, ramble ramble, I thought I missed being a PhD student but today I have been working on calculations and figures for a paper all and day wishing I could pass it on to a student. Got lazy in my old age. Thinking is too hard.
@minxymissk@sleepdozer57 Sorry - now I'm thinking I should put it back - but I won't I've already messed up the comments!! Must learn when to stop fiddling!
@anron I'm going to stay with a friend for a day and a half - she has a private beach - I think I'll manage to enjoy that part - just not the scary conference first part!!
Fabulous silhouette against the morning sky...and perfect title....ever onward is my motto. :) Have a marvelous time in Puerto Rico ~ at least for the day and a half you'll have to enjoy yourself completely. Safe travels, Judith!
Well done Adam he got a fantastic shot here !! I love that great silhouette of the, I was going to say soldier , but he doesn't look like one . Who is he ? Those cranes & the chimney tops are wonderful too !! Have a wonderful time in Puerto Rico & I hope you manage to get some exciting shots while you are there !!!
Judith - you have SUCH a knack for subject matter and while a lot of it involves being at the right place at the right time, you have quite a gift for capturing bits of everyday life and making it breath-taking and your frozen moments capture so much. Wonderful! Safe trip, welcome to my side of the pond!
beautiful colours in that sky and statue silhouette. I really like different subject matter - it becomes a very long month if it's all Christmas from December 1 - and we get it like that because we do the tree festival
Judith , tell Adam well done, he's got his mothers eye for a shot.............or at least he follows instructions from her well... super framing and and I love the cranes ...have a great trip....don't mention Puerto Rico, they are giving me a headache at work..there's some new taxes they have just introduced ..and we need to make some quick adjustments to our IT systems to manage them !
@phil_howcroft I'll have a word!! Of course the Americans selling their European debt in June have been giving the whole Eurozone a headache - I might slip that in too!!
I don't think you've overprocessed the sky at all, it looks wonderful and the silhouette is beautifully sharp.
I stand by it, I like this one too, but there was nothing wrong with the sky before :)
i think it was a top shot - the criss-cross crane action against that sky and facing lamposts.. lovely stuff mrs.
Thanks for the travel wishes - I'm not mad on flying but it's a necessary evil!
