Thank you from Monty for all the lovely comments and expressions of concern - he would like you all to know that while he won't wear Santa hats he wouldn't say no to one of those woolly ones with ear flaps...
I had to get my old Cambridge A-Z out to check the name of this lane which leads to the 'pay' entrance of King's College Chapel withClare College and part of Trinity Hall on the right. Another rather dismal day in Cambridge so I've gone mad with the contrast for a bit of interest. BBC Outside Broadcast vans are camped outside the front of King's Chapel ready for Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve. A friend of mine was in there last week for the filming of the Easter Service for the BBC - apparently it was freezing!
It is indeed a gloomy day but the architecture is always fab! I like the lift of light on the wet ground too. Don't you just love the Nine lessons and Carols? It's part of my growing up and its when you prepare your vegetables with it on the radio..........sigh......
I would love to visit Cambridge one day. Love the architecture and what I've seen through all our great photos. You have only 10 days left, Judith. Any plans for a second year?
I just feel I am walking down this lane myself & it's so inviting drawing you down to see what is round the bend . Wonderful lighting & contrast & I love the wet cobbles too !! Easter service before Nine Lessons, how funny is life !!! Congratulations to Monty on being a star !!!
I love the shadows, contrasts and the tones in this, Judith. A fav for me because there's something about the scene that I really like. I think it may be the the blue tinge around the figures.

Good photo Judith. Very much a case of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with this dismal weather!! What we need is frost and snow! I will be in Cambridge on Thursday with my camera to see what I can come up with.
@Cherrill Me too - I'll have the giblet gravy simmering, mince pies baking, King's on the radio and Delia open at the relevant page! I love the fact that it's just down the road but being enjoyed around the world.
wow judith the tones and textures are super here...and it's a super POV with the narrow road leading us into the frame. It does look like it may have had a bit of a @sparkle juliette post processing technique applied..I don't know what you've done but I like it
