5 a day

The winter wheat is looking much healthier this year than last. It's already taller than it reached last year in the drought and it's showing no sign of 'flowering' (is that what wheat does?) yet. So it's appreciating all the rain we've had even if Monty and I were less than impressed by the hailstone shower we were caught in.
Lots of shoulder pain of late so it's been iPhone time for photos....
It was a lovely surprise to find 'A nice surprise' on the PP this week - thanks very much folks!!
Awww---such a sweet face and a great expression!

He's visibly enjoying the green!
Sorry to hear about your shoulder pain - feel better soon!

I hope your shoulder gets better very soon, Judith!

Haha - brilliant!

An appearance by Monty is always a treat as I've been dog deprived myself for quite a while. And this photo and title made me LOL. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. My back is giving me trouble - only feel fine when walking a lot or sleeping. Sitting on chair at work not so good.

Class expression. Green poo though. Just saying.

I love that lob sided smile of Montys ...& he looks to be having a good chew !! This looks a very healthy field of wheat considering you haven't had much rain in your part of the world Judith. Winter wheat is still harvested in late summer but gets itself well established before the winter sets in so it is a much stronger plant & has the benefit of the winter rains. The ears of wheat will appear as it gets riper but not sure if they call that flowering. Love your title !!

Ps Sorry that shoulder is no better you must have forgotten what it's like to be pain free .

@meisen325 There's an answer to that - retirement! Bad backs are definitely worse than bad shoulders though. I'm counting down the days to the specialist...I must say the new automatic car is a godsend though.
May 15th, 2012
Haha, adorable! Hope you feel better soon!
May 15th, 2012
@fueast Well I've been expecting a pile of sick so that would be a better option...
May 15th, 2012
@happypat WInter was very dry and I took a photo of a field of wheat with huge cracks in the ground in February but it seems to have made up for it with the last couple of months' deluges.

Monty is showing off his impressive teeth in that one. Give him a pat from me but don't pat your shoulder. Sending healing hugs your way!

May 15th, 2012
Oooo Monty looks like he is enjoying his greens. So sorry to hear your shoulder is still painful
May 15th, 2012
Gorgeous green and Monty is a laugh and a half. Boy you must be so discouraged re your shoulder. Did you ever read Jean Shinoda Bolen's book about her middle aged shoulder isse? Cat think what it was called but much of it resonated for me when I was in that age range rather than being an " old person"
May 15th, 2012
hi Monty great to see you again, Ruby says you look coolio in the field...and she also says it's about time I posted here on here again
May 15th, 2012
Made me laugh so much. My dog used to do this. Great capture of him. Have been away and just been looking at your back photos, its nice to see such an array or different shots. Sorry your shoulder is not much better.

Monty seems to be having a wonderful time - everything is so green there - must have been your winter of rain!
May 15th, 2012
I just love his expression, it's so funny. I hope your shoulder improves soon. I don't know what treatment you've been getting for it but have you considered a regular massage? xx

Something about these spring greens that they love...Not sure I could get away with chasing through them though..
May 16th, 2012
Monty looks quite happy.
May 16th, 2012
@caddick No he was right on the edge - we met a farmer the other day who was playing hell about a big labrador rampaging through his rape fields - its not on when the plants are at the trampling stage.
May 16th, 2012
fab face!

Instant favourite. I've just had two days of dog sitting and he would run through similar fields chomping on all 'his greens'. Lovely photo...handsome dog
