Seventeen months in and my first proper ladybird shot. There's a short cut down on to The Backs that I like to take via the Council Offices. The steep and tall bank of grass there has grown wild into a mass of nettles, campions, grasses and cow parsley. The sun shining through the nettles stopped me in my tracks this morning and I noticed a whole host of baby snails and other lovely creepy crawly things. I'm hoping budget cuts mean they won't strim it just yet. I moved over for a cyclist who in fact wanted to stop to tell me I should use flash.. personally I think the light is so pretty that I resisted the urge to do anything more than crop a little.
I WILL be catching up with comments tonight. I wrote another blog last night and at the last stage the computer froze and lost it all. Second time around I learned how to save drafts...just as well as I inserted a photo and lost all of the text. So I've sort of bored myself with it now but if anybody can face it, it's here!! http://discovercambridge.wordpress.com/ I need to find out how to send e-mail alerts to followers - I'll work on it!
I read your blog about Jesus Green this morning Judith ! I clicked on to comment & lost it but will go back later & leave feedback . Much better with out flash !!! I very rarely use flash on my camera , I don't like the light it leaves. What could you have better than this any way, I love it !!!
@happypat Thanks Pat - did it e-mail you then? I'm following myself (!) but it didn't tell me anything. I will get going on a few interviews once there's one or two posts up and running!!
I don't like flash either - and anyway it needed soft light for the whites. I was too polite to point out that I hadn't asked for advice!
Your ladybird really stands out against the white cow parsley. I know what you mean about using the flash , I had to use it on my pic. for today , as the wrens nest was in a dark corner in the rafters . so I edited it with a soft focus which took away the glare of the flash.
@snowy Sorry - it's a bit long! There's a speech bubble at the top that you click to comment. Not obvious I don't think but I haven't worked out how to change it yet!
@judithg I clicked to post my comment & must have clicked on the route to start a blog ...have since left a comment !!!! I forgot to comment how lovely Monty looked in the long grass, the little darling !!!
My camera is anti lady bug...which is a shame as i have tried..but hey it can take good Chardonnay shots...luv the picky have fav'ed it and Manchester is having fabulous weather..yippie...
a lovely shot....was just reading flash minutes ago. Never liked to use cos my result doesn't look good but the magazine gave a great idea on how to diffuse it cheaply by using a plastic bottle!
PS: I just read up on your shoulder news. Oh my, that procedure sounds painful, but I'm glad you're finally getting some relief. Now I'm holding my fingers crossed that the physio will get you back to normal in no time! I haven't been around much again lately, because we're quite busy preparing for the big move around the end of June, but I'll get better then. I hope...
@jannaellen I had some serious work on it this morning - it just feels so STUCK (which it is!!) but I've got a rope and pulley device that I can take to America (could be interesting at customs!) and I've been getting more movement than I expected with that. But I'm feeling very sad that I can't knit :0( !!
I never use my flash..it just ruins the pic. I hear you can cover it with paper and get some light from it, but need to learn to do it..when I did it, it just did half of the shot full light and half black. Your ladybug is so cute standing out there on the end .....
