Well we may not always live in harmony with Germany over the Euro crisis or penalty shootouts but Trockel, Ulmann & Freunde is a very popular little German cafe on Pembroke Street. It always has bunting out but they've gone the extra mile for the Jubilee this week, It reminds me of building sandcastles!
I'm off to NY tomorrow so I'll be out of action for a week (no laptop...) but I'd like to wish all of my UK friends a very happy extended holiday weekend (I'm relying on you all to bring me the Jubilee in photos!) and all my non-UK friends a very happy 'normal' weekend!!
Lovely bright window box & I love the little flags, well done Trockel, Ulmann & Freunde they have done us proud !!! Have you a little bloom on this from one of the picmonkey effects ? Have a wonderful time in NY just the two of you ...I expect Adam is very excited !! Look after the shoulder & we will take our Jubilee pictures so you don't feel like you are missing out ...I expect the American news will show lots of our news too !
Wonderful red, white and blue display! Pleasing to see the ordinary everyday celebrations. All we hear/see over here is the grand and glorious ...and loads of reflections on the past 60 years. Enjoy NY.
This is absolutely lovely! Have fun in New York and I, as a non-British friend, will try to capture the Jubilee weekend for you as well as possible. Sorry for the indifference around the Euro/penalties (kind of feel addressed by this;)) but I think you are right - those political things shouldn't influence our everyday life too much.
@michaelelliott Hi Michael - we are having a great time but I'm finding getting the correct exposure a real challenge with the sky so high up!! I'm even more impressed by your photos now! We have walked miles and miles and miles and are having a 'rest' day closer to the hotel today - 5th Avenue - shouldn't be too much of a hardship!!
@judithg - I recalled you were coming to NYC soon but got crazy busy with work this week. I had wanted to mention to you to please feel free to ask me any questions while you're here whether photography related or otherwise. How much longer are you in town?
We are off tomorrow - top tip to try this evening though! We've been staggering home exhausted and going out again without a camera thus missing blue hour! I'll put that right tonight plus (if my son ever wakes up) I've promised a wandering around sort of a day so I should get chance to take a few more casual shots. He took about 400 of the Statue of Liberty yesterday - I'm trying to do some casual deleting without him knowing!!
@judithg - haha yes tendency is to go crazy with photos. Walking all over the city, and dealing with all the hustle n bustle, is certainly exhausting. So I can understand need for down time. But at blue hour city lights comes alive with color and no glare of sunlight. Good to try it once at least. Well I hope you had a great experience with your family and I look forward to seeing your pics. Have safe flight home.
What made you choose Black and White?
Just joking.
Safe trip!
