Sweet celebration by judithg

Sweet celebration

I was a bit slow this morning and wondered briefly why the sweet shop had stars and stripes outside - and then it dawned! Cambridge University Student Union is reflected in the window with a bit of St John's College Chapel to the side. I'd have loved to have made this shop into a gallery but it was a tobacconists forever before so I suppose a sweet shop is closer to that.
Huge thanks for the lovely response to my daisy/poppy combo - very excited to see it on PP. More commenting after the tennis finishes - come on Andy!
The stars & stripes accentuate the existing colours in the window - fudge, sherbet, sweets, independence - what's not to like! Fun shot!

Very festive shot! Love the beautiful shop and the glimpse of a cathedral in the background! And we are rooting for Andy Murray at our house!!!

Funny. The shop has a hint of empire about it. Murray won but cava crashed. Boo

This looks like one of Wills favourite shops sweets sweets sweets.

@fueast You can't expect to drink fizzy alcohol and hit balls in a straight line.

July 4th, 2012
@fueast Just wondered why you were talking about cava?
July 4th, 2012
@snowy It's usually packed but the market stall is probably cheaper - I try to stay away from temptation!
July 4th, 2012
Great shot!

Come on Andy....and you did it hooray on to the next round & Tsonga or whoever!! I love the fact that the stars & stripes flag is the same colour as ours & I don't know what I am talking about tonight too much wine!!!!!
July 4th, 2012
great shot - and how sweet to the audience Murray thorugh to next round!
July 4th, 2012
Hmm, our flag is backwards and shown in the country from which we sought independence. Oh well, fudge makes it all good!
July 4th, 2012
Love this shot, Judith - even though the flag is backward! At least it's on display! Glad to see that Murray won. I think England would go nuts if he ever pulled it off!
July 5th, 2012
Love the shot!

@sparkleplenty1 Yes sorry about that!!! They had another one on the left hand side - I think they were going for artistic balance!
July 5th, 2012
@bpaquette Ann's there's a tax on that fudge ! ;0)
July 5th, 2012
@fueast Ahh - 'Cavendish' crashed ... bum!
July 5th, 2012
@judithg Good job he's faster than you!
July 5th, 2012
@fueast Well I can't feign an interest in more than one sport at a time - but at least I can spell!!!
July 5th, 2012
@judithg What have I spelt wrong now?
July 5th, 2012
Great one for the special day. I completely missed it, too, and was wondering why there were so many fireworks pictures up today. Duh!
July 5th, 2012
@sparkleplenty1 @bpaquette Yeah, it is funny to see the flag used as a decorative item like that. But I am sure we do that with the Union Jack probably. Funny how much a flag and the care of that flag is ingrained in us as we grow up. I still don't get why they were using it. I am a little slow I guess. A LOT slow!
July 5th, 2012
@espyetta @bpaquette Is this offensive? I think they were trying to be friendly!! (And sell more sweets!)
July 5th, 2012
@fueast "Cavendish' - spectacularly wrong!
July 5th, 2012
That looks familiar. :)
