This is how Cambridge should look in July. Punts on the river, weddings in the colleges, a graduation in town (exactly 22 years to the day since my PhD graduation - feeling a tad old...) and the sun in the sky!! Mostly at least - not quite hammock weather until tomorrow.
And very smiley faces in our household as I heard from the Karate World Championships very late last night that Rachel won two bronze medals and a silver for fighting (that's my girl ;0) (non-contact actually!)). Nigel came away with two gold and a silver and almost won a very big trophy indeed but he was pipped by somebody with the same score but higher grade belt. I am really proud - Nigel has not long had a knee operation and Rachel has always had to fight terrible nerves and overcome disappointment - just shows what hard work and determination can do.
Ah here is the news of the medals & how well they both did, you must be so proud of them & specially as Rachel was one of the younger ones in her group. Thrilling when they get some reward for all that dedication & training...no one will mess with your girl!!!! A big celebration when they arrive home but no more chocolate for you Judith!!
This photo almost has model village look about it, the punters will be all stiff tomorrow & out of practice.
@happypat Hahaa - I'm not sure when I went from stress-starver to comfort-eater but it's terrible for the waistline! She's 18 on Monday so there will be a lot of celebrating to get through.
Wow! You must be ever so proud. Glad you finally got a summer day. May they stay! Your shot captures the delight of all to finally be out on the river. What is this about no more chocolate? That is a really bad idea. By the way, my second child's name is Niguelle which we made up as a feminization of Nigel some 45 years ago.
Cheering for Nigel and Rachel - wohooo! Great summery shot - I'm glad to hear you also enjoyed a little bit of summer at least (it's still on and off here as well).
