Warming up

First of all apologies for my absence and huge thanks for putting my hockey shot on PP. The early start of the Olympic days and too many exciting events in the evenings are making me very lax. This is actually a Friday shot I'm using to backfill. Had a GREAT day with two brilliant hockey matches watched with Rachel, @sparkle and her mate Steve. I think this is the Argentinian team warming up with one of the inspirational Olympic videos playing. The nations flags are along the RHS and the high rises in the background are the athletes' accommodation. One of the best bits is seeing all the different flags hanging off their balconies. I also met up with my sister and her family today outside the Olympic stadium. It was an amazing place to meet!
The hockey team are doing so well too Judith , I saw them again today at lunchtime & your friend was in the thick of it. I so wish I was down in London at the moment but we are watching it all on the TV. Sounds like great day for you & your photo is excellent...just wondering who the girl in the poster is?

I like the processing here, yes it is so exciting at the moment isn't it! It's certainly good to be British!

@happypat Ooh not sure - I'll ask Rachel!! Apparently most of London is deserted. It was packed at the Olympic Park today with the athletics starting. Somehow my sister and her family going into the stadium assuaged my desperation to get in there! And then we met my brother-in-law's cousin who used to swim for NZ and now coaches Tonga's only swimmer. It was all a bit surreal but great that we were all there at once (well his cousin is there for the duration before he goes back to his family in NZ). My sister's lot got into the athlete's village and have had a whale of a time!

@phil_howcroft Yes bless her - I hate that she should be sad about bronze - the whole country is proud of her!!

@judithg My niece is co-ordinating 52 staff & 900 troops based at Horse guards Parade & then for the Paralympics is moving to do the same in the Stadium so we are going down at the end of August to catch a bit of the action & to visit the Bomber Command Memorial. It all sounds wonderful & we are enjoying it all immensely. You have sort of family in NZ , they will be inviting you over!!!

@happypat I wish Pat!! Sounds like you'll have a great time - I bet your niece is exhausted by now - they are long intense days.

great tones and amazing shot - that atmosphere on the run up was amazing, I guess we all listened when told not to go into London during the Olympics unless we had to
