Another 'Play me' piano This one in Arbury Court which is in one of the city's less affluent areas (sort of - as with much of the city it also abuts some very expensive housing). I was down there booking Monty in at the Poochie Parlour and multi-tasking by walking with Rebecca and Gloria the pug. This piano looked rather forlorn and having taken the plastic coverings off we gave it a bit of a plonk. Specifically Rebecca played it properly and I joined in out of time and in the style of Les Dawson (little taster here if you've never heard the great man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMOrsWxh5mg). I'm trying to persuade Rebecca to get her husband over to do a virtuoso performance on it - it would be amazing with the sound echoing off the flats. There was a pretty fancy performance going on in the Grand Arcade shopping centre - I really wanted to get the piano and the Rigby and Peller bra shop in the same shot but a new pop up Cupcake stall was right in the way.
Three good things:
1. Winning the theme competition :0) !
2. Mad friends
3. Day out tomorrow if Nigel ever manages to get back to Stansted
Woo what a good idea pianos in the street ...somehow I don't think the idea would catch on in Arnold !!! I like how the green on the piano matches the green bush / tree
I saw these on the news last night (not this particular one) and I said to Steve I've already seen one on 365 because I'd seen your post yesterday so your pic beat the news program to my eyes! Another good pic
First many congrats on winning the theme competition but what a scary thing to pick a theme for next week...would be terrified to actually win!!!!! Sounds a real fun time in the shopping court, I would love to have heard that!!! Never seen a Rigby & Peller bra shop but of course have heard of that famous name! Lovely pianos everywhere! Poochi Parlour Monty.....you are a spoiled dog!!!! We need to see the picture !
@happypat He's going in on Thursday - I'll have to do a before and after! £85 for a Rigby and Peller apparently. I don't fancy the very tight around the ribs business myself.
@happypat And I can tell you if the window display is anything to go by you don't get much fabric for that! All sheer and flimsy. Mind you I seem to have gone allergic to my M&S so I'm going to have to go mad (maybe John Lewis!)
@judithg You surprise me I thought it would be more of a girder job!! M&S are no good for me, never fit right. We have a good place in Garstang I go to & a very helpful girl. Must go to bed!!!!
Well done on winning the theme competition! Hope you win the next one too! I love the reflections in this pic and what a great way to spread a bit of fun and talent. Hope they're still there when I go into Cambridge next week. .
You should make a whole series of those ;). Nice composition, especially with the green in the foreground and the red in the back-ground. Holding my fingers crossed for Nigel and your night out ;). And congrats again on winning the competition, I was so happy when I saw!
Congrats on your theme success. :)
So pleased you won the theme shot with that fabulous well spoken shot!
