I'm in the usual post-London state of collapse so I'll be commenting tomorrow I'm afraid. Fun day in the capital though - Richard Hamilton at The National Gallery was interesting but rather brief but 'Seduced by Art' - exploring the influence of fine art on photography was worth the entrance fee. Best of all for me is always The National Portrait Gallery. Last time we went in Rachel was about 8 and Adam 6 and both behaved very badly and I had to remove them! This time Adam was very impressed indeed which made me happy. We were both amazed by the portrait of Paul Nurse which is actually an enormous painting. http://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portraitLarge/mw131049/Paul-Nurse-Paul?LinkID=mp67539&role=sit&rNo=0
I especially like the fact that Paul Nurse was awarded the Nobel Prize along with Tim Hunt who ran the lab below me while I was doing my PhD and is one of my favourite scientists.
Three good things:
1. The left wing coffee shop 'Firebox' we stopped in more or less as soon as we got off the train. I'm pretty sure we were nowhere near as left wing as they've have liked but they get 12/10 for giving Adam an enormous hunk of Turkish bread and refusing payment.
2. The Italian restaurant that for some reason didn't charge me for my lunch (not a mistake - there must have been some sort of offer but I've no idea what it was).
3. The look on the homeless man's face when I gave him £1. We'd just come out of the left wing cafe and I felt inclined to 'pass on' their generosity but he looked absolutely stunned bless him (he had asked me for change I hadn't just given a random bloke £1!)
Wonderful shine on that pavement &how the flashes of red stand out! I would love to have a nosy round some art galleries but when ever I am in London I never have time to do serious browsing like that...would seriously like a week in London on my own!
You must have felt good when you saw the surprise on that mans face....good for you!!!
Great reflections, the reds are a great splash (no pun!), among them. Nice scene. Sounds like an interesting day? Know what you mean about the post London collapse, always have that myself.
Beautiful shot, nice colors and comp. Just showed it to Hank and he loves it, so we both give it a Fav. All that museum talk has made me drool. Not that we don't have fabulous museums here but I so love all of yours and I always leave feeling like I haven't seen enough.
A very beautiful reflection shot - so very London ;)! Loved your three good things today - sounds like you got away cheap and were able to make someone's day - how perfect :).
Fabulous rainy day reflections...love this! Sounds like an amazing day!! The portrait of Paul Nurse is incredible. Hard to believe it's a painting. So glad that Adam behaved himself properly this time around. :)

I like your 3 things very much too :)
