Filthy weather today - especially this morning when I took Adam to hockey and stood in the dugout for just long enough to get frozen and very wet (the rain was blowing straight in) before the coaches gave it up as a very bad job. They had already done a few sessions in torrential rain and were wet to the skin. Home via town for some hockey gloves (none fitted but we ended up with a new stick for Christmas...) and stopped moaning after passing a man huddled up begging in the disgusting weather. He had disappeared by the time we got back to the car so Adam got an extra hot bacon roll from Sainsbury's (magnificent if you've never had one!) This afternoon meant more hockey so I donned extra layers before taking Monty out for a walk. He had his coat on too - it's the sort of day you wish you didn't have a dog to walk! But in the end I really quite enjoyed it - the damp autumn air and deep rusty colours were particularly noticeable today. I thought I'd taken loads of great shots but they are all disappointing in one way or another. This bicycle basket has seen better days and I thought it would make a nice shot - then I saw the leaves inside and went for them instead.
Three good things:
1. Waterproof trousers.
2. Playing Classic FM very loudly so Monty can't hear the fireworks going off.
3. The Sunday Market. More specifically Tom's Cake stall...and especially the toffee fudge cake...
... and I thought you'd posed the leaves! Wonderful shine and colour. I wondered if you'd seen anything of the 10k run in Cambridge today? My daughter's boyfriend was running - apparently she deserted him and had a cuppa with a friend while he ran in the rain! Love your 3 good things.
Lovely deep shiney leaves. Poor Poppy is struggling with the fireworks this year. Thankfully she's finally gone to sleep under the table. It seems to go on for days.... Feel lucky that we didn't have rain today!
Love the gloss on those leaves & the basket is a perfect foil. Sounds like you have had a very toing & froing cold day!!! You are an angel buying an extra bacon roll, I would have been disappointed to find him gone!!!! I can never believe the difference a pair of waterproof trousers make!!!
Wonderful rich coloured leaves and great leaf and basket textures, a good combination. You are so kind to have bought the bacon roll. I do enjoy your 3 things, it's a great idea.
it was a damp and dreary day here too judith...we usually go on a long walk on a Sunday afternoon, but it was almost dark at 2,00 pm !!!...love your leaves,,,,very 'virginia creeper esque' in colour and shininess ..coolio safety film border
The title 'Chocolate' and the leaves match each other so well, this is an unusual and very sucessful shot. Now where did I put that last bit of choc . . . .
@bpaquette Guy Fawkes' Night when we celebrate the foiling of his plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament on 5th November 1605. He was a Catholic objecting to Protestant oppression. They tortured him and then he was hanged, drawn and quartered - I guess his protest didn't work...
Toffee fudge cake sounds good. ;)
The toffee fudge cake sounds delicious!!!!
