Well on Friday I had an e-mail about the school's photography policy and had to 'register my equipment' and sign up that I wouldn't break England Hockey's photo rules at the hockey competition so I have decided NOT to post any hockey photos as I am sure to be breaking somebody's rules - and if I just post Adam I'll be breaking his! So here you have the entrance to Croydon Aerodrome taken on my iPhone - please don't view large! A mixed bag at the hockey so we didn't go past the group stages but the boys should be proud - they played some very tight matches and both the winners and runners up came from their Pool (a bit of a shock to be honest as the favourites were both in the other Pool). They tied their match with the eventual winners 0-0 and almost scored a last minute winner. I don't know if that's made it easier or more frustrating. I know I'm biased but my boy did himself proud as captain :0). Oh - the photo - we rejected the first three eateries near the hotel and walked to the 'Brasserie' at the old Croydon Aerodrome. They looked excited when we walked in as they were short of customers for their over-30's singles disco (it was empty) and the barman/waiter got all excited and had to go off an find menus when we asked if we could eat. He told us very apologetically that 'the liver was off' (tragic news) and we all plumped for steak, chips, mushroom and egg - the least strange of all the combinations on offer.
Three good things:
1. Sporty kids
2. Sports coaches willing to go the extra mile (and enjoy it) for sporty kids
3. Baths - where I'm heading - we are all shattered (from the adrenalin I think!). I promise to catch up tomorrow.
What? No liver? Well, that's just a crying shame...Not. Blech!!
Congratulations to Adam and teammates for an excellent season. To have made it so far is such a big accomplishment! And kudos to you, Judith for being such a champ of a team mom and cheerleader; and for refraining from taking illicit photos. :)
Enjoy your bath and wind down time after an intense tournament
Well done to Adam on his successful Captaincy - and to you on such an interesting story. I suppose you could have stayed for the over 30's disco? Well perhaps not!
love this phone shot!! AND: congratulations to Adam, what a wonderful accomplishment and you should all be so proud. We all know how much support this takes from parents!
@phil_howcroft Wish I'd known that before - I'd have paid more attention. The booking area was fascinating - would make good shots in daylight - you could just imagine it in the 20's.

Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly from Croydon to Australia, later to return to Croydon to a jubilant welcome.......
I would think she is the ONLY woman to fly from Croydon to Oz !!!
