My son's school recently had a 'Random Acts of Kindness' week inspired by the Head being stuck in a traffic jam caused by a lorry driver protecting a small car broken down in the middle lane of the motorway. Everybody in the queue would have been glad to get past and get going but the lorry driver was sacrificing his schedule to save a life. On my way to an unfathomably muddy walk today (what possessed me to go without wellies I have no idea) I spotted this sign. Obviously people had stopped in their rush to work in the snow and ice to help a stranger in need. So this isn't a beautiful artistic shot (but the nuns at school always said it was not how you looked but what you did that made you beautiful - which fell on deaf ears with a group of 14 year old girls) but I'm tagging it for 'slow down'.
Three good things:
1. Mary Berry's Chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache. (Multiple middle-aged woman diets abandoned this afternoon)
2. If you feed 16 year old boys Dominos pizzas and busy yourself cooking proper food they assume that you're deaf and you get to hear all the gossip. (Normally that only happens if they're in the back of the car.)
3. I've had some lovely photos from my correspondent and some fabulous e-mails - I may eventually fess up about 365 and ask if I can post one.
PS I feel like I'm really struggling to comment on everybody's pics - sorry if I don't get to you each day - I'll look at the 'back photos' as well when I get chance. I'm also getting nowhere with my Blurb book so I'll have to have another blast with that soon too....not enough hours!
Seems like there's lots of kind acts being performed in Cambridge at the mo! Love the quote from the nun's and your response to it! ha. That cake sounds very decadent !
Love it! Happy Friday! I have a Mary Berry lemon yoghurt cake recipe card in my kitchen. It's been there a week or so, waiting for me to give it a go. Perhaps tomorrow?
I love this thank you note, just shows there's kind (and grateful) people out there. Am feeling the winter blues this week, so love the feel good factor of this, great find. I only wish I was closer to you for that delicious sounding chocolate cake!
that is such a cool story, I know how you feel about catching up Judith, I just cant find enough hours so I am hoping it is just the short evenings and not my age LOL
How poignant. It fills your heart with joy to know there are good people around. Love your #2 good thing it made me smile knowingly :o) Don't worry at all re. commenting. I feel as if I am constantly catching up and then feel really smug when I get to the end of the list and then worry that there are people I've inadvertently left off the list but we're all only human. We all have lives other than 365...unfortunately :o) xx
What a great idea for the injured party to have done. Am thinking that in the States there would be a notice from a lawyer looking for witnesses. Wonderful idea to share this Judith! A good reminder for us all, and now to pay it forward.
Nice. I have recently noticed a randomly kind theme on one particular bus: the 394. It goes through quite a gnarly bit of town, but every time I'm on it I notice unusually courteous drivers or big tattooed boys helping old men with their shopping or something - there's a little positivity on every journey! (Probably jinxed it now I've written that, but we'll see).
So very sweet. I am not getting to comment much these days either and now that I have the time I can't do much as eye needs to be on ice at all times for 48 hours, thankfully not when sleeping or eating.
This is too wonderful. Would love to see so much more of this in the world.
It's funny how pizza has a 'congeniality' effect on people...particularly teenagers...and especially teenaged boys. :)
Never enough hours in a day ~ don't fret the commenting. :)
