I spent a lot of time in the waiting room of the tyre garage today. I had a slow leak in a tyre which seemed to be becoming less of a slow leak and more of a leak and I decided I ought to get it fixed. I was a bit surprised though when the mechanic came and asked me if I'd actually seen loss of pressure or 'had I just seen the screw in the wheel?' because I knew nothing about the screw! Anyway she ascertained that the screw hadn't actually gone through the tyre and it did not have any holes in it, did some valve tightening, filled the wheel with nitrogen and sent me on my way, no charge. After a very short journey the tyre pressure warning light came on again so off I went back to ATS and waited another hour after which time she checked all of the tyre pressures, filled them all up with nitrogen and suggested that the alarm may be playing up a bit. You may think that this has been a frustrating day but a couple of hours in a nice warm waiting room, with a good choice of magazines and free hot chocolate - with nothing to pay at the end wasn't at all bad in the end. And no expensive tyre replacement charges (though I'm not 100% convinced that there won't be....). So I was feeling charitable and went to buy some lovely Emma Bridgewater mugs in aid of Comic Relief. This one is obviously my favourite because it has 'photo' in it. I've bought one that says, 'What do you call fast cake? Scone.' for Rachel because that's about her level.
Three good things:
1. ATS tyres.
2. Dentist waiting rooms when you're waiting for your child who is old enough to go by himself, no longer dentist phobic (thank you Max) and needs nothing doing.
3. Going to see Rachel tomorrow :0)
PS Off to the pictures later so it'll be a double dose of commenting tomorrow.
Ah I recognise Emma Bridgewater straight away, there is something about her mugs that are very appealing. I bought our DiL one for her birthday once with Luscious Lesley written on it!
Good news re tyres but I would still be sceptical for a bit but good no cost!! Enjoy tomorrow!!
@happypat Yes - still not convinced - it was very flat indeed on Sunday - luckily I went to check before I took the boys up to Rutland. She did something fancy with water to check for leaks - we'll see - hopefully not on the M6!
You sound as though you had a similar day to mine on Monday when I spent an hour and three quarters waiting for my car which had been serviced and should have been ready for me. I read the paper from cover to cover and drank their tea!
For one moment I thought ATS were serving customers coffee in Emma Bridgewater crockery! Done my time in ATS I can tell you! Lovely shot and focus on these mugs.
@bpaquette Ah well having spent several hours by the 'tyre TV' I can answer that. Nitrogen diffuses through the rubber at a slower rate than air. (which would sort of suggest the tyres contain mostly nitrogen anyway but still). The ride is certainly a bit firmer at the moment but that's probably because Emma knows what she's doing with a high pressure line! It was pretty good service since I had to pay 50p to do a bad job myself with an airline at the garage.
Thought you were going to say that these mugs were at the tyre replacement place - thought they looked a bit too tasteful. Annoying about the leak tho.
nice one judith, i see your nifty fifty is being put to good use already....doesn't it create fabulous bokeh :) ....I'm ready for 'Judith does cool artistic shots with wide open apertures' :) ...and I cannot wait to see Monty through your 50mm :)
Only a bit late!! Wow a lady mechanic, I like that...........and what film were you going to see?any good?!! Hope Rachel appreciates her 'scone'mug!!! Love the focus
