A truly frustrating day from start to finish really - including among other things going across town for Nigel's dry-cleaning, getting stuck in traffic for ages on the way home and, when almost home, realising that I'd left his suit on the counter. I also went into St John's because they had posted a nice 'daffodils in the sun shot' on their FB page but when I got in there it was devoid of anything springlike and my inspiration dissipated into the dullness of the day. AND somebody has put big signs in the cloisters by the chapel and mucked up my composition!
Three good things:
1. Friday
2. Nigel's suit safely retrieved
3. My frustrations are enormously trivial.
I actually like the sign on the left in the picture, it gives a counterpoint to the repeating lines. The one on the right they should remove for you :).
Well, better photographic (and everything) day tomorrow and you've cheered me up for the stupid things I also do. I think your shot is quite atmospheric.
Beautiful lighting & the signs add to this I feel. Perfect curved arches...so very serene even if you weren't feeling too serene at the time! bet your heart sank when you realised you had to back.
I went back to Cathy's twice yesterday about ten miles each way. I took Jacks belated part of his birthday present...a lava lamp & by mistake took a box from Amazon with carpet cleaner in .When I got home the proper parcel was there so was there & back before anyone noticed what a fool I had been...the first parcel wasn't even lava lamp shape!!
How rude of them putting signs out ;o) I love the light and shadow in this shot and the POV. Longing for spring and some warmer days. If it's any consolation it was dull and dreary here too xx
I would have moved 'em!!! i have previously shunted an ugly bin from in front of some delicious steps! Lovely light and patterns!!! Let's hope tomorrow sees a better mood! :-)
Great coosition. Love the arches, light, lamps? I actually think the sign adds to the shot...not sure re the one you can't read...maybe put Alison on getting rid of it? Sorry re the frustrating day
I agree with many of your fans; the sign doesn't detract. It's professional and discreet. However the overall effect is super. Loved your little story however (and Pat's @happypat rejoinder).
"Tourist" sounds so tacky....so I guess the sign is appropriate to muck up your lovely picture. Just kidding, just trying to empathize with your day! Happy Weekend!!!
judith, I don't think the signs in the cloisters mucked up your composition...i think quite make it......a person there would be perfect, but I do like how you've got the colours of the sign in the difficult lighting
Was thinking of a similar shot today before I found mine :) I can't find which thread had coffee meet up discussion on it! I am free from 12 - 5 on Wednesday if you are around ....
@katharinehubbard At the hairdressers tomorrow pm - next week may be possible and if not definitely when the Easter hols start. And next Thursday morning I'm having coffee with Judith J if there's any chance you can join us?
@judithg No probs - next week or the holidays is probably better for me too thinking about it! Next Thursday as in the 14th? Can do from 11 onwards if that suits :)
@katharinehubbard Oh I think that will probably coincide - I haven't made proper plans with @busylady yet, just late morning - just need to pick a venue!
