Powerz Dragonslayer

No prizes for guessing which member of the family named this particular hen. The same boy that had a passion for graffiti and went to lessons (run by the council to provide a legal outlet for this form of creativity) and is responsible for the board behind her (looks like a practice thing). Anyway she's an absolute star - lays practically every day and sports the magnificent comb characteristic of White Leghorn hens. I took it yesterday while she was investigating why I was photographing damson blossom. I'm falling into a wether-induced slump and the snow hasn't reached us yet. Hope you're all bearing up around the country.
Three good things:
1. Rachel is home
2. Washing machines (see above)
3. My blossom on PP - thank you for all your lovely comments and favs
Cool Leghorn Massive.
Washing machines I didnae get..

March 22nd, 2013
Funny & sorry Powerz dragonslayer but you remind me of that horrible hen in the Walace & Grommit film...the one that moves in & takes over Grommits bedroom!! Its just the tilt of the head & she really is a lovely girl & doing sterling work in the laying box! Love the floppy comb!!
March 22nd, 2013
She is lovely and good for laying eggs each day!
March 22nd, 2013
Fav! I just love this!

Beautiful big bird - does she lay white eggs? Hardly ever see them nowdays!
March 22nd, 2013
Love it. Cute hen and a great shot of her.
March 22nd, 2013
@maggiemae Yes she does - lovely big white eggs and she's quite a diminutive little thing. As a youngster she laid a lot of huge double yokers - made your eyes water.....

Judith you are a classic, should have been a writer..............love your chat and your photos...................your children obviously take after you with their imagination........i love this shot and her name, a fav to you and 'the boy' !!
March 22nd, 2013
Great chook shot! Magnificent hen, a credit to you! Weather getting me down too, big time!
March 22nd, 2013
Foghorn leghorn I say
March 22nd, 2013
Oooh yes! I like her. She looks in such good nick. Our ironstone soil turns our white chickens orange. Must start doing three good things again - I am slumping a bit too at the moment. Bloody weather.
March 22nd, 2013
Great looking chicken!
March 22nd, 2013
Double yokers that make your eyes water. Kind of funny, but I feel guilty for laughing. She's a beaut!

Super shot, of a very handsome bird.
March 22nd, 2013
At least she has an original name :-) I like the portrait and the comb!
March 22nd, 2013
So incredibly crystal clear. Love the background.

Ilike the detail and texture on chest feathers and best of all your quirky sense of humor
March 23rd, 2013
that is funny
March 23rd, 2013
Nothing like a great layer is there?! and interested in art and photography too!!!
March 23rd, 2013
Cool shot! And I wanna know where to take those classes. How awesome is that?!

Hmmm - best chicken name EVER?
March 23rd, 2013
I love this shot. Made me smile. FAV. Sounds great the council ran the graffiti course. My son made a short film on graffiti in London for his degree. Some of the artwork was phenomenal. Really brightened up run down areas.

What a cool looking chicken
March 23rd, 2013
I think that's the best chicken name EVER! :)
March 23rd, 2013
has she got attitude/
weather giving us all teh blues a bit.
March 23rd, 2013
Definite attitude!
March 23rd, 2013
I love that comb and her expression, nicely captured against the graffiti-board. I don't understand how double yolks make the eyes water? Is it sulphur? We have snow coming tomorrow, in time to spoil my motion-blur shot for ONS :(
March 23rd, 2013
@anwan They are very large - and she's quite small!!
March 23rd, 2013
ohhhhhhh :O
March 23rd, 2013
Apologies for being late. Love the name - absolutely brilliant and a great image. Also love the banter with Anwan - that's made me laugh
March 23rd, 2013
Beautiful!
March 23rd, 2013
Are her eggs white. Our Pavlova lays white ones, Red (the Rhode Island Red lays red ones), but the Australopithecus doesn't lay black ones.
March 23rd, 2013
Fav. I love chicken portraits. And I love the background here as well. I want to raise chickens. Going back and forth on it.
March 23rd, 2013
great shot - Mum lost one of her hen's today - probably the cold didn't help! great name!
March 23rd, 2013
Absolutely gorgeous! Love the colorful graffitti background too!
March 24th, 2013
Love her name, I bet there is no other!
March 24th, 2013
I know that slump. The weather has a lot to answer for. Fab shot xx
March 25th, 2013
I love the way she is looking. Do hens have personalities, I guess they do.
