St Catherine's small but elegant boat house has a new coat of paint. I don't think I've ever paid it any attention before but I noticed the elegant turn of it's staircase and the nice art deco line around the door when I was walking past yesterday. Built in the 1930s, it was bought from 3rd Trinity Boat Club in 1958. They presumably no longer needed it after merging with 1st Trinity to form Trinity 1st & 3rd.
I am tired, busy and fed up with the weather and poor Monty is in need of a good long countryside run but is getting shorter and shorter pavement walks. Hopefully we'll all manage something better over the Easter weekend.
Three good things:
1. Food shopping done for the holiday.
2. Rachel helped out in a completely packed out Waitrose and didn't moan too much about the amount of chocolate going in the trolley.
3. Proper lie in tomorrow for everybody (dog permitting).
A beautiful design Judith, that is a wonderful swirl of lines!! Soft tones give this a gentle, summery look.
Enjoy your lie in & Monty's time in the fields will come!!
Lovely to have all the family together over Easter!!
That reminds me of the opening animation of the classic Hercule Poirot series, so you really got the art deco mood nailed. Great shot, nice graphic lines.
@fueast I know but think of the technical difficulties with all the shadows - maybe - I cloned out the top of a traffic clone so I haven't been a total Philistine... Think of it as another 'shape'....
I was struck by this as soon as I saw it. Having looked at it again and again I can't work out whether it's real or painted on though. Nevertheless it gets a fav from me for being such a striking shot xx
I'm so behind in commenting, but it means that I have a lovely collection of your photos to look through while I eat my chocolate! I'm not sure what certain people's objections are to chocolate, unless that person has stopped eating all sugar (and that would include starches like bread and potatoes too?)
Anyway, off my chocolate-box and on to your fabulous shot! The lines are fabulous, and I actually liked the plastic thingy as it reminded me of the portholes that were also popular in art deco (and which would have been a nice touch on a boathouse). One of the master strokes is that the line of trim in the bottom left is echoed in the little step-down of the wall in the upper right.
