There was rain overnight followed by a mizzly sort of morning so I thought I may be able to get a puddle shot in the bag - no such luck - they had all dried up. I spent a bit of time just around the corner from this shot taking pics of a bike hanging on the railings. It was so covered in bird - ahem - poo, that it looked like it was all welded together with the railing. I'm not sure why I was surprised on 'computer-based inspection' to find that the photos were rather revolting. Luckily when I rounded the corner I came across a basket that couldn't be ignored.
Three good things:
1. Fab response to The Beat. I was pleased with the way that came out so I'm delighted it wasn't all in my imagination.
2. House clean - and it wasn't even a total disgrace before I did it.
3. An interesting new bird on my feeders - only seen hanging upside down so far - I need a better view.
What a find, fantastic tulips. Re 2 of 3 things - the more I look at The Beat - the more I think it's one of the best shots I've ever seen on here and now I've said that can you clean my house please - oh and parts of it are a total disgrace (2 teens and a 22 year old here for 3 weeks). :)
@malc Awwww - thanks - blushing! You'll notice I didn't say the house was tidy - with both offspring at home and using bedrooms and kitchen table for revision and everywhere else for relaxing it's a clean slum!
I'm sure I saw this exact same bike outside The Tate Modern, which made me instantly want an old fashioned bike with a basket. They don't sell them anymore except the Pashley Princess which costs more than I'd ever pay for a bike. Lovely picture!
How lucky are you! I would have listed this find as one of the top 3 things of the day. Love everything about it--the flowers, the basket, the fence and sign. Incredible!
Beautiful! I love the way the blooms make these kind of patches of brightness against the more earthy muted tones of everything else! Great composition!
Aha! I need a bracket under my new basket that goes to the front wheel hub!! I just got a wire mesh basket - but the mesh is too small to hook an elastic cord to to secure things...and the weight in it makes it droop down onto the fender. Maybe I should just put silk flowers in it and use it only for decoration!
I must have missed this the other night , such a fabulous display & very artfully arranged in the bicycle basket.
Only in Cambridge would you see a bicycle with a basket filled with spring flowers & perfectly placed beneath that street sign!!
I love it. Like that poet who wrote about growing old and wearing purple, I am going to grow old and have a bike with a saddle sprung like an armchair and a basket bedecked with plastic flowers. FACT.
i look forward to seeing your new bird on the feeder
