An early start at the National U16 Finals in Wakefield and a quick warm up on the pitch before diving into our first match against Canterbury. A bit of early nerves, trouble getting used to the water-based pitch and competition in the form of the ultimate tournament winners meant that we lost 3-1 but it was a good effort. A long wait then to play Preston and we started guns blazing. They got the first goal against the run of play and we slightly lost our way apart from an amazing individual hat-trick from one of our players. A late rally of energy couldn't avert a 4-3 defeat from a match we would have stormed if paying our best - but you've got to do it on the day.
Three good things:
1. Lots of drama
2. Team spirit
3. Hello Paul and Mary!
Love the posterised effect, and the crop .... Intensifies the mood of the match! Shame they lost, but they will have learnt something from the experience I'm sure.....!
Preston .. you playing a school at Preston, well I still hope you win!!!! Love your coloured balls , really effective Judith specially the swirl of orange!!
@happypat We were playing the whole City Pat! They had a great goalie and a couple of good players but we were quite off form in parts of that game. I did get in trouble for accidentally shouting 'Come on Preston!' when I really meant, 'Come on Preston, give us the ball...'! I tried to think of something witty to say about the bus station but decided it was, after all, a junior game and I had to behave!
@fueast I know - a few of us were itching to go but we'd never have got back in the car park! Nearly texted you to say how scary it was being in Yorkshire ;0)
@judithg Well old habits die hard Judith after all Preston is your old stamping ground so you could be forgiven!! Which ground did you play on ...the football ground at PNE!!!!!
@happypat It was in Wakefield Pat. A long trip for some of the clubs on the south coast. The boys would think we'd gone mad if we pointed them at actual grass to play on!
And:
Cool edit!
